‘68 ?

That automatic shifter does not look stock at all. Yet it still has a column shifter?

Got be somewhere around there, yeah

its blue...that means 72

Oh snap didn’t notice that. Yeah, what’s going on here?? The plot thickens. Wonder if it’s just a lazy conversion from stem shift to floor shift

The larger brake pedal implies it was originally an automatic so not sure why a new transmission resulted in this lazy conversion. They didn’t even make a trim panel to hide the mechanical part of the shifter.

Hey, they’re from my town! Fun in concert.

Good sleuthing. Not so clean then.

Yes its a 68. 67/68 have the same nose, but 68s have side markers and the large rear window. Some 67 have the big rear, but most had a smaller rear window.

mainly wanted the cool factor and drag racing look of the BM shifter, most dont run panels around them anyway. I know of a 67 Camaro that was a rare factory column shift and the did the same thing.

Nice 68, kind of looks familiar, lol. This is the factory Bright Blue with white top. Its just a base model C10. No trim down the side, around the front and rear glass, painted vent windows.
My 68 C10 is the next step up to the Custom trim level and then the top was the CST option.

Column shift. . . . . Camaro?
It just looks odd in an otherwise pretty stock looking truck and with the column shifter still in place.

Oh, I bet there’s something under the hood... and a PowerGlide at the end of that non-stop shifter.

Its just lazy hot rodding.
yeah they had column shift Camaro’s in 67-69. My grandfather and I have actually flipped 3 of them. All 67's. Two of them were standard bucket seat cars which looked really odd, the third was a rare factory bench seat car so the column shift had to be ordered with that as well.

At least Covid hasn’t affected my sense of Model year... even if I can’t smell anything.

That kind of shifter box is usua lly left just like that. I guess certain people like the looks of it.
Maybe the original column shifter has been rigged to do something else?

Why would you have a column shifter with bucket seats? Weird.
![]() 10/30/2020 at 18:17 |

Probably just left for reasons. I doubt it does anything besides get in the way.

older couple might have ordered the car new and preferred a column shift, or someone wanting to take the car to “lovers lane” and now doesn’t have a shifter in the way

At least when I put a 4-speed in my chevelle I took the handle off the column shift. Now it’s a manual (floor shift of course)
with a needle on the dash indicating “Park” all the time.

One of those seems more likely than the other but that's an interesting possibility.

Just seems lazy to leave it, doesn't it? They didn't even bother to integrate the shifter well.

Should just be a pin to remove the handle; anything more requires swapping the whole column in an
understandably “no thanks” level of effort. The aftermarket shifter just kind of hanging out there is a style thing, some people think it looks good (I’m with you though in that it looks incomplete). Benefit of the doubt, we’ll go with this is one of the first test drives the owner has taken with the new trans setup.

I think it looks lazy and discordant. I don't like it and the rest of the truck isn't even drag inspired.
